We meet Mirjana, a middle-aged divorcee, as she takes some time for herself, having a cup of coffee and a smoke. Throughout the drama we follow her in real and imaginary situations during this delicate time of life, when she ponders on her past, which has robbed her of her youthful illusions, and about the future, still holding a promise for her. Her world is simple and narrow, and the people who enter it are ordinary, mundane people – her ex-husband, her daughter, her mother, friends, lovers … Their thoughts weave into the fabric of her life, visibly or invisibly, and are themselves entwined. However, the story in the foreground is still the road that every woman nowadays walks down. Besides Mirjana, who is looking back and forward at the same time, there are her teenage daughter full of hope an yearning, with her entire life still ahead of her, and her mother, whose life's pace is slowing down, and with virtually no future – and the lives of all three of them portrays the life of one.

 

The characters, with their detailed psychologies, life-like dialogues, mild irony and fresh stage directing are the main strong points of this young Croatian playwright, Ivor Martinić (born in 1984). In the past few years his work attracted considerable attention at home and in festivals abroad, and he received several awards. Drama about Mirjana and people around her will be performed for the very first time on the stage of Mestno gledališče ljubljansko (Ljubljana city theatre).
